Kia Ora Whanau, Ko Luz ahau!
I believe that providing children with love, quality education and care in a holistic way will be the best key to build trust, positive, responsive and reciprocal relationship.
Children must feel that they are in a safe, fair and comfortable environment where they can share contribute and gain knowledge. Actively involve, encourage, participate with them in different learning areas so they can reach their full potential and develop their sense of their world.
I believe that a teacher need to good role model and spiritually aware of all childdren’s needs for lifelong learning; need to provide different tools and resources in a rich learning environment; link the ‘theory’and ‘practice’ to become effective in assessing the chidren; and to be advocate for children, a good listener, guidance, facilitator and researcher.
To be an effective teacher, it is very important to have a deepenced understanding and knowledge about the history of Tiriti o Waitangi and the bicultural of Aotearoa. It is important to value and respect them as lifelong learners regardless of their age, gender, culture, ethnicity and individual rights. Always include in my teaching practice the te reo Mãori Language and tikanga (customs) of the Tangata Whenue of Aotearoa. Also, it is essential for the teacher to support the diversity learners.
Overall, I believe that I need to be supportive to everyone at the centre (children, whanau and kaiako) by using collaborative communication skills. A teacher is always willing to persevere to educate, inspire and motivate the children to become responsible, to succeed in their lives and to be a good citizen of this nation.
